The lifetime risk of developing diabetes is one in three among Singaporeans, and the number of those with diabetes is projected to surpass one million by 2050.
Therefore, it is important to take steps to reduce our risk of diabetes.
1. Take small steps to reduce your sugar intake
For example, we can come up with a plan to drink a sugary or frizzy drink once every 2-3 weeks.
If we plan to buy bubble tea from Liho, Koi or other shops, we can reduce our sugar percentage to 20% or lower gradually. These small steps will go a long way to benefit our health.
2. Try to work out regularly
Exercise increases the insulin sensitivity in our cells. So, when we exercise, less insulin is required to keep our blood sugar levels under control.
Increase your workout days slowly but surely. Just focus on doing exercises for about 10-15 minutes only. These exercises everyday will benefit your health for the longer-term and you won’t regret it.
3. Water
Drinking water instead of other beverages may lead to better blood sugar control and insulin response. This reduces our risk of diabetes.
Always keep a water bottle with you so that you can drink water anytime and anywhere.
Do not take diabetes lightly and we strongly encourage you to take these steps for the betterment of your health. I hope this email is beneficial for you.
Please take care, All the Best and See you Soon!
Best Regards,
Coach Samuel
